The Waterfall Way in New South Wales, which runs from the coast just South of Coff's Harbour, to Dorrigo in the mountains.

Spectacular gorge and rainforest scenery.

The best I have done (I am sure there are better) is the mereenie loop from Kings Canyon to Alice Springs. Most of it is on unsealed road and you need a permit for the aboriginal land and a good 4x4. The isolation and the different scenery made it very different to anything I have driven before.

Buchan to Jindabyne is a mountain road through Kosciusko National Park and the East Gippsland Ranges. Most of it is unsealed road.

If we have a decent car, this could be a great return route for our Melb'n Sydney coast drive.

Does it need a 4 wheel drive Quinkana?

There are some great roads in Kosciusko Nat Park. Drive from Kiandra to Cabramurra and south via Khancoban and Tom Groggin back to Thredbo. Can only do it in the summer but there are some great lookouts and places to stop (like Geehi) where you'll find kangaroos grazing on river flats.

I really like the road down into Kangaroo Valley from Fitzroy Falls. You get glimpses of the valley floor from way above - sometimes complete with swirling mist, depending on the time of day.

The hairiest trip I ever did was up Mount Wellington in Hobart. Freaky, exposed narrow road, sheer drops and so high you felt you should be in an aeroplane!

The Great Ocean has spectacular scenery, but the problem is because the road is narrow and winding, if you try looking at the scenery while driving you are going to end up in the ocean, :scared: but its great if your a passenger.
l really enjoyed driving around Tasmania, because its the smallest state its easy to see most of it , It has nice green countryside, specatular mountains
and coastland.

Hi Glen, you know my bloods results were lost, and I had to send copies? Arrived in Sydney last Tuesday - waiting (again) - results are clear (our nice Panel Doc told me), so as soon as they have been finalised I'll get my visa immediately online.

See you in Melbourne,
Cas x
