Hi Adenray, I have just seen your thread, so I went on to PomsinPerth, we have short term holiday rentals in Rockingham and there was someone who had posted looking for help with accommodation (the post was 24.11/05) and they had not had a reply from anyone, so I told them we had a property available for the month they required....I have never been on that site before so I registered and sent the reply.....I have just now got a PM from PIP to say ask the administrator if we can advertise!!!!! Forgive me but I thought I was helping someone with info that NO ONE else had offered not even the administrators. I have heard people mention that they had trouble with PIP, as recently as yesterday on Emigrate and yours today and I can tell you I understand why, I will not be going on that site again to try and help...I wouldn't exactly say I was doing blatant advertising, perhaps we would have been helping each other, I am really sorry they have let you down, you would think they would take the property off the listing, honor their bookings then sell it....Suzette at Cedar Cottage (oops is that me advertising!!!!!)

Thanks Suzette for your post. Yes, it has been very disappointing for us, especially as we have to be in that catchment area for our daughter - now all our plans are topsy turvey again. Just for your information, the schools are usually flexible if you tell them you are looking for a long term rental in the catchment area, after the initial enrollment they dont really do any follow ups, that was my experience when I moved from Melbourne to Perth. And when I moved from one suburb to another my eldest daughter didnt want to change schools so I had one child at one primary school and one at a different school. When you get into the school by stating "we are going to build or rent in this area"they usually will be quite flexible, that is unless there is a waiting list for pre primary. You could even try a postal box at the local post office. Once in the school there are bound to be parents of other kids who have relatives in the area without kids that you can use their address. The most important thing is not to stress.You have enough on your plate right now I am sure. Good luck, Suzette

Hi Suzette, thanks for your words of support, much appreciated. Yes, we have enrolled our daughter at preprimary level as she is only just 5. She is top of the waiting list!! We are hoping that a space becomes available to her. On the postal box situation - we have tried to make contact by fax and using the feedback on their website to get a postbox set up at Joondalup Lakeside shopping centre but noone comes back to us. Do you know how easy it is to set up a post box and how much it costs. We would like all our mail redirected from the UK to a post box for a least the first 6 months.

Not off hand but will find out for you, went back onto PIP and the cheeky buggers have taken my posting off, I hope those poor people got something as they were looking from Fremantle to Mandurah and we are smack bang in the middle..PIP is not .Has anyone else had the same trouble with them as you have had...I would be interested to know as in this industry we and others down here pass on people they cant help to others so as everyone is happy..I will get back to you with the post box issue..Suzette

I know that you have opened up a rental, dont worry, you will have no problems, We have been doing this for 4 years and we all need to help each other. I only replied as the post was 2 months old and NO REPLIES, not even out of respect by the administrators,,,one to be wary of...If you look at their testimonials, they only have ONE. That says it all. If you want to discuss anything about the new territory you are venturing into do not hesitate to contact us as we are more than willing to help anyone out.Some of our earlier customers are emigrating on the 4th of Feb and enquired about booking, we said dont be silly, and they are staying with us. All our customers become our friends. That is how we want it...Suzette.

Today was the first contact and may I say the last, except for perhaps a very well thought out email in the next hour or two. To me it confirms what others have said. I am in touch with Evelyn and John from emigrate, on our doorstep (they have a discussion forum) and have even had their referrals use our place (Keith and Jo). I used http://www.stayz.com.au/ & http://www.ozstays.com.au/ for my short term rentals. Worth taking a look I reckon and as they are more oriented for the Oz market, I found some good bargains there.

On another note, I hope I haven't opened a can of worms regarding PIP. I feel dreadful.
