BBQ's have come a long way since their inception, and now you can pay up to the best part of $1000 for a state of the art thing.
Many local shires/councils have public BBQ's available for free use in some of their parks. Think some camping grounds provide them also, though there might be a charge.
You can buy a simple charcoal BBQ to do 2-4 people from $30 at places like Bunnnings and Mitre 10

That sounds like a nice idea when you are feeling homesick, cook a roast while dipping and having a beer or wine. I'll bear that one in mind.
We have not done a roast in it yet, must try that soon.
