Bankruptcy etc
Just to let you guys know as a warning, there was a tv show on last night here, about 2 couples with different stories but are both being asked to leave Australia.
the 1st one, was about a guy who went bankrupt in the uk and didn't declare it on his forms, he paid the outstanding money before he left, but didn't let Australian immigration know.
the 2nd one was a lady who worked in a hairdressers on a working visa, but got sacked after taking to many sick days, now she hasn't got a job under the terms of her visa and is being asked to leave.
I know you guys are all competent people and it sounds obvious but do not leave anything out on forms no matter how trivial it is, and check the terms of your visa before you drag the whole family out.
thanks and happy waiting hope you all get the news you want in the New Year.

The second story was about a woman on a 457 who took too many sick days and her employment was terminated. As rightly said by the DIAC spokesman, it is a matter for the Workplace Ombudsman, not DIAC.
Both families knew - or should have known - that coming to Australia on a 457 is a gamble and they could have to leave the country on 28 days notice at any time. It is not the fault of DIAC that a company is not eligible to sponsor nor is it that someone takes days off and gets fired.

Having said that, if one is asked, one would be daft to lie about anything when applying for a visal

Note to self: Don't apply for a business visa to Australia after being declared bankrupt and disqualified from being a company director in another country.

Re: Bankruptcy etc
That's correct. In order to qualify for a 163 visa you have to have a proven track record of being able to run a financially viable company in your home country. If your company went bankrupt and you were disquaified from being a company director that would indicate that you are in fact unable to do the above.

Re: Bankruptcy etc
That wasn't the issue, it was the fact he failed to declare it when filling in the forms. It may have been a genuine mistake but fact is as far as Aus immigration are concerned having lied on his form he is a person of 'dubious moral character'

Yep, they do seem very keen on honesty.
I can't see that they would have given it to him anyway as he had not run a successful business.
