Bank recommendations

Hi
I'm on my way to Melbourne in 6 weeks' time.
I need to open a bank account before I get there.
Can anyone please recommend a bank which doesn't make huge charges?

ING have no fees and they don't charge you for using any ATM. I am considering moving to them.

I actually don't bank with them, but do have accounts with most other big 5.
You can get free accounts with all of them. But NAB do look best as a starter.

We're with Bankwest for all of our accounts - Business account included. No charges at all... fab!

No charge for first 6 months to migrants and no charge if you deposit $2k per month. Loads of atms. Personally can't fault em. Can open a westpac account from UK.
Only issue I have is that all banks charge you to use their atms if you don't bank with them?

Buy a $3 block of chocolate and ask for '$300 change please', and the card is debited $303. No fees.

Some banks are associating their ATM's, so you can use some others with no fees.
