I bank with Citibank. They are excellent. No complaints.

Check them out here: Citibank Australia

In the past when I looked the rule for finding a decent bank was quite simple:

find one that ISNT Australian:
Citibank (American)
HSBC (Chinese)
ING (Dutch)

All have offerings which cater to various needs and seem to do so with the contemptuous sneering at customers that the likes of CBA/NAB/Westpac/ANZ etc etc seem to do.

Yeah, that pretty much covers it...

Bankwest used to be excellent, if a little difficult to access from anywhere other than WA, but they sold out to the Commonwealth so I abandoned them, after almost fifteen years. The non Aussie banks are good, I reckon ING gets my vote, BUT if you want to be easily able to access your money from the ATM down the road, you probably need a Oz bank. Westpac, I think, best of a bad lot. At least they have an account where its free to withdraw your own money from their machines (unlimited). Not like bankwest and others who charge something like 80c per transaction per month after the meagre few that they give you for free.
Good luck pink

ING Orange Everyday account is great. Fee free and free ATM withdrawals if you withdraw $200 or more. Can't fault them and their associated savings account are great too with instant access.

I wouldn't go with ING simply because that Orangutan in their adverts annoys me!

Just in the process of going with BankWest after giving ANZ the heave-ho. ATM withdrawals are now free (ie you pay then they immediately reimburse). Will be interesting to see how things pan out!

They offered that when I inquired, but it was only if I guaranteed to put a certain amount of money in my account every month. Who knows what goes on in bankworld . Hope you find them a good one for you, changing banks is such a pain, isn't it.

Yes you need to deposit $2000 per month. Have to say I was disappointed when I found out they had been bought by the Commonwealth. Suspect it is only a matter of time before they try to charge me for something at which time I will be on the move again. Gotta say - 16+ years with Barclays and still havent paid them a penny for having an account

NAB also offers banking without monthly charges, free NAB ATM withdrawals, and no minimum monthly deposit required.

HSBC are good for no fee banking with no minimum monthly deposit and Internet banking. They allow you free withdrawals from Westpac ATMs (found everywhere) and you can get cash out (cash back) from supermarkets, post office and seven eleven. Only glitch is their penalty fees, $35 for a dishonoured direct debit . Oh, and if you don't speak Chinese, the phone service can be a novel experience And yes, they are British! I hardly ever go into a branch or call them, I do everything online and their Internet banking is really good.
