Westpac have just opened an account for us, just had to email through the documents (or fax them) and that's that. Would have used HSBC but they don't have branches anywhere near where we'll be! HSBC will open an account for you from your local branch.

We used Commonwealth, and they were pretty good with the transfer, but we switched to ANZ now we're using banks here on a day to day basis. Just found them a lot more helpful, generally.

started out with the commonwealth... but in process of switching to ANZ.
Commbank were great. brilliant in fact... swtiching to ANZ because of special ANZ/Uni bank account with extras.
