I'm a singer in a covers band here in the UK and will want to carry on with another band when I get to Perth in the new year.
Any expats in Perth who fancy getting something going in the new year?
Are there many places to gig etc?

Never seen so many as I have here and they all have their regular spots at the venues around town. The same band every week doing the same stuff!
There are some good ones out there, but the majority are pretty cr*p.

I'm sure you'll find a band to join, checkout free papers like x-press when you get here, that has bands seeking singers, seeking musos etc.

Hi, my hubby is a bass player, we arrived recently in Adelaide. Unfortunately there seem to be limited opportunity here for bands although plenty of musicians who do their own thing in a small way. Lots wanting to rehearse but no gigs. Certainly they all say you can't make a living at it. Who knows Perth may be completely different.
Keep an eye on the local Trader, Trading Post type paper as they have lots of ads.
He has now got in a band but it was through someone he knows. You need to make some contacts.
Good luck though.

Not another cover band in Australia. Loads of pubs with cover bands here. Too bloody many in my books.
