Or more sense than money if she stuck a potato bar code on it. ;)

Woolies in Helensvale wheels out 'The Big Silver Trolley' some afternoons with slightly tatty fruit and veg for sale for $2 a bag - put as much as you like in a standard plastic bag. A couple of weeks ago I got 6 bananas and a whole heap of veggies for my $2. Yesterday I got a large eggplant, few mandarins, lemon, lime for $2. There were loads of apples, oranges, carrots and potatoes that were going begging.

Totally agree. How they ever became popular here, when they always seem to taste of, tin foil coated, chemical soup, is beyond me.

Re: Bananas

so you've got plantations A,B & C, all for arguments sake and discounting supermarkets, charging $4.00 per kilo. typhoon/storm/hurricaine/cyclone hits 0and wipes out plantations A & B. price goes up to $12.

Does farmer C shere that equally with A & B or pocket the lot like a greedy bastard

Or is the supermarket just taking us all for mugs???

Personally I'd rather not be able to afford bananas and be here,

Even if I do still write a £ sign when writing down prices...

I was noseying round the food hall in David Jones yesterday and noticed their bananas were $24.99 a kilo. Not sure if they were solid gold or just gold plated.

(What's that tag line they use - it costs no more to shop at David Jones.)
