Default badgers having a sulk

Just failed my Motorbike CBT - what a D*ck. Let's face it - its not rocket science. I failed cos I couldn't get rid of a bad habit I picked up from riding push bikes...whicih I corrected but he then said I hadn't spent enough time proving it..and it was too late to go on the road with the main group - everyone else was doing the easy "pizza" scooter course!!!

And I was fine on agricultural 2 stroke on bikes in aussie!!

pissed off badgers

maybe I gotout of the bed the wrong side..

What bad habit was that then?! I'm intrigued....

might sound stupid - but on a push bike I never learnt to come to a halt using the brake - I mean - I use them to slow down but I sort of jump out of the saddle which I have MEGA high and use my body weight to actually halt the bike.

on a motorbike I found myself "trying " to do the same - of course I can't get out of the saddle - obviously - but I try to put both feet down as soon as possible, and then I "forget"/can't use the brakes at rear/front - cos I'm too busy fighitng the bike's weight... .as a result I come to a halt in a scruffy and awkward position - me "fighting" the bike..

sounds strange - but i took me 15 mins to actually "learn" to use the brake to come to a halt...then I was fine..??

it has taken me a while to realise why I couldn't do it - the push bike habits..

had no probs in Aussie as the bikes are 2 foot tall..

WHAT! It is not POSSIBLE to fail the CBT. I've never known anyone fail it....EVER. You must have the co-ordination of a demented goat.
Anyway that's enough sympathy from me.

BTW, Like Nocola I passed my driving & bike test the first time, but I won't mention that.

Aw tough one Badge. Have you actually got a bike for daily use? Need to get plenty of practice!

I rode for years before I took my full test. Struggled with it as I couldn't do an emergency stop without locking the back wheel.

I'll be in touch Tues, bit stressed with the house sale at present. Thinking of turning the first buyer into a ice pop with the aide of a baseball bat

Badge,

Your 'bad' habit sounds a bit dangerous on pushbike or motorbike! Maybe the examiner had your best interests at heart and wanted you to live longer . Kick the habit and go for it again.

I commuted by motorbike as a student in NZ and Oz and lost 3 friends in bike accidents, all of which involved doing something stupid with their feet. Use the footrests please

Repeat after me "I cannot stop a motorbike with my feet and it's not a good way to stop a pushbike either"...

As for brakes:

Pushbike - rear then front
Motorkike - front then rear

yeah thanks for the advice

with hindsight it all seems so obvious - not a matter of coordination - more a thing of teaching the body a "neuro-skill" - like driving a car you have to go out and do it..noone can do it for you..

normally I am ahtletic, quick at these things so its the first time I've ever failed anything..

You'll probably be a better rider for it at the end of the day.

Although I passed my bike tests first time it took me an awfully long time to take them Wasn't exactly a natural! Coudn't live without my bike now though - once it's in your blood I don't think it ever really goes

I've been thinking about doing my CBT for a while now. You guys recommend doing it here, or would it be better to wait for Aus and do thier equivilent?

Saying that.......what IS the aus equivilent?

Cheers.

I might wait until I get over there. I only wanted to do the CBT for the experience - in stead of spending the rest of the day bored in lectures, I spent an hour on my own whizzing around learning bike control - which is what I wanted to acheive out if it...

if i had passed my CBT then I would have been tempted to buy bike for my last few months here - not a good idea..

Aussie has a similar scheme - but if you pass your test over 30 you can ride any bike..????
