Paul & Rachel,

On the contrary, I believe that everyone has the right to openly view their service experiences, be that positive or negative. I can assure you that staff at Crown have been working to bring this to the best possible conclusion for you, and make the most of an unsatisfactory situation.

I've responded to you on another thread you've started, but also wanted to take the opportunity to respond here. Firstly and most importantly, you have our sincere apologies for the theft of the package from our care, and for the distress this must have caused to you and your family.
I don't want to comment any any detail at this point for obvious reasons, but suffice to say that we take this very seriously and have involved the police, and we are co-operating 100% so the culprit is bought to justice.
It's important to note that all the crew are 100% Crown full time, fully trained staff, who have passed our normal high standard vetting procedure.

Our Regional Manager has sent you an e-mail today with an update on the situation, we are hoping for some positive news shortly.

Of course, we will live up to our responsibilities and make good. As I understand, a claim is already underway.

Crown have a quality reputation in the industry, that has been earned through many years of providing excellent services to our clients. I recieve many letters each day from satisfied clients, and can assure you that this is a very rare event indeed.

Should you (or any other readers of britishexpats.com) have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We had Crown in 1997 when we first went to Australia. We have a quote from them for us to return. I can honestly say that we did not have any problems the first time and hopefully none this time. The staff were more than helpful and nothing was damaged in transit. Only damage was when customs opened Christmas decorations and put something heavy back on top of delicate decorations. Nothing to do with Crown though.

I'm sorry to hear about your hassle but I can only give you my experiences. Good luck and hopefully by posting this on here the MD will get the ball rolling and get it sorted out.

All the best

You did the right thing naming and shaming. Not enough people do it. I've no experience of Crown (but have heard good reports) but I expressed my dissatisfaction with my movers on here (can't remember their name now!)

Good companies will always try to make good. I just hope that Crown were already investigating and taking your complaint seriously and it didn't take your post to panic them.

I also hope that if they do find out that it was an inside job, that they do the right thing and sack those involved.

Just remembered - PSS.

One broken table and a badly scratched dining table top. What bothered me more was the defensive attitude of their agents at this end - just didn't want to know, tried to pass the book and wanted me to deal solely with my insurers.
Chess.

I think there's the possibility of good and bad with all of them - but it's good to see someone making themselves accountable on this forum. I've mentioned before the problems we had with Excess, but they took our complaints very seriously and dealt with them promptly and effectively and I'd still recommend them. They're using Grace at this end, so we'll see how that pans out.

MC,

Thanks for the question. There is no reason to be alarmed, as I've said this case is very rare indeed. The chances of any loss through theft is very small indeed, regardless of the contents of your shipment.

If you are concerned in any way, I suggest you ship the tools in a lockable chest. You'll need to hand in one set of keys into our office as Customs at destination may want to inspect the contents on arrival. Carry a spare set of keys with you.

I would think as they targeted specific boxes you have a case against the company. Regardless of insurance their staff (of which they are responsible) have caused you loss. Suggest you consult a solicitor.

I have worked with {contracted] to Grace for 24 years , a sister company to Crown , and theft incidents i could count on 1 hand, thats over 24 yrs mostly casual labour  , once you get a bad name in this industry it dos,nt take long for your name to get out there, and we will weed these guys OUT, most of the guys caught were the result of internal information, so let Barry do his job and cut the innuendo. ..................... mm

Re: bad experience with Crown Relocations

We moved to Singapore with Crown. We had a kind of bad experience....

Basically we were told they would need 3 days to pack us up........at the last minute this was reduced to 2 days because of a 'rush job' on elsewhere. Then the van broke down on day 2 so it ended up being 1.5 days. As a result many items were not packed in correctly and got broken.

However, I have to say that the Crown person who we dealt with in Singapore was great. They handled the insurance claim for us and we got full compensation for the damaged items.

So some good some bad. All in all I reckon we would use them again.

We too found Crown in the UK to be great but completely useless and unhelpful at this end. Any problems at this end and we were told to take it up with crown in the UK. That was helpful..Not!
