we chose Crown to ship our furniture across to Perth as my husband had 4 Firearms and hunting knife that he used at weekends..It was his hobby he had done all his life with his father and wanted to bring them to Perth..Crown had a licence to ship them across so we paid them alot of money to do this...We left for Perth before our furniture was shipped over...back in the warehouse in Leeds UK where our furniture and firearms were...one of their staff broke into the container and stole our Firearms...vacuum cleaner...snap-on tools..it must have been one of the guys who packed our stuff as they knew exactly which boxes to go for...
We have had no refund of any kind...just a simple "it's one of those things" and we are left with no apology...obviously the police were informed in the UK but as of yet no-one has been arrested..
We paid Crown £5000 and they kept the lot...My advice to anyone planning on relocating is not to chose Crown as they are expensive, unreliable and have thieves working for them..

why are they saying that they are not responsible? If the property was in their warehouse and under their control then they are responsible. Is there something in the terms and conditions that say otherwise? This could posibility an unfair contract term.

The police sound like they are being a bit useless on this one, sorry for your bad experience

Yes, surely you paid for insurance?
Tell me you paid for insurance... right? ...ok, you did. But you insured for selective items, right? You'll get the cash for the replacement of what you covered.
All the big companies hire 'casual' staff to cover their shortfallings and theft can be a risk. If there's been a theft, you need to contact the police and start a criminal investigation, especially considering there has been firearms involved, which will have a serial number I presume, or have been registered.
Edit to add: the police take firearm theft very seriously and if they're used in a crime and are chased back to you guys and you haven't reported it, it's not good.

Extremely seriously. They'll be all over Crown like a rash if you call the local constabulary. Crown will not like that very much at all.
I should think that if they won't play ball with you now, they will after the boys and girls in blue have been round for a chat. You'll need to supply serial numbers, makes, models, calibre to the police and any photographic evidence that you may have of them, or your hub using them, for ID purposes and proof.

Oh well at least you're covered if they do appear on the streets. It's surprising they've not done more. A friend had antique pistols taken from her packing and whoever packed it had taken them. She was insured but even so, the uk police were very proactive in sorting it out.
Maybe this is why Crown aren't interested... It's poor either way.
Whoever you let into your house, there has to be trust, but it's certainly a risk you take when you do this sort of thing. It's a shame you didn't put them in your luggage in the hold.... Wasn't that possible to do?
Not that it matters now, I suppose.

Yet again Crown were useless enough not to let customs know that they had stolen our guns!!!
