Default Back from Validation Trip

Hi all, just returned from validation trip in Perth. It was fantastic, even though it rained for nearly two weeks We had a great time and just cant wait to return and live there. My OH enquired about some jobs whilst over there, through a few contacts we had. Basically he is an Electrician and you will not get a job without the A licence, some take on trade assistants but the general consensus is you need to gain your A licence first. Gaining your A licence seems to be quite a talking point, we spoke to some people and they did not do the ARTC. They gained their Vetassess in the UK and then booked themselves on a 2 week course with Energy Safety and have received their licence, they did not do the ARTC. I am currently waiting for information about this and will post when I have more details. Basically he was told that if you have your licence he will be ok for work, he is a both domestic and commercial electrician and we think their is more work for commercial but that is just our view.

Overall Perth is a fab place and we cannot wait to get there when the sun is shining. Thanks Mel for all your help when we were over it was great.

We have decided to settle in Secret Harbour, it was a lovely place and has a couple of good schools and the kids really liked the schools and the beach.

Thanks for everyones help when we were over it was great meeting up with some expats.

As a family we are of the opinion that you have to give it a go, if it does not work we will come back, we do not have loads of money and understand that you do need quite a bit to keep you going whilst we gain A licence and get a job. But we have been given this chance and we will go for it. Perth is a great city and will have a great time exploring it. We are lucky enough that we are able to give our children an adventure to try out a different country and culture and we are really excited about it.

Good luck to everyone who is making the move, enjoy.

See you all in a few months we hope

Thanks and yes I know it will be difficult, luckily we have a group of friends that moved over varying from 3 years to couple of months and they have told us how hard it is to settle in and I dont think anything can prepare you for the homesickness that you will get and yes a holiday is great but in reality my OH still has to do a licence and get a job but we have to give it a go, I would really love to bypass the first 6 months to a year when hopefully everything will have settled down. I just hope it works out for us, obviously it doesnt for a lot of people but we have to try

Thanks again for your comments and we hopefully will be moving over for good around November.
