Hi everybody,
well we are here in christchurch nz at last. If anyone wants info you just have to ask. We have 3 kids but when they are at school I feel pretty isolated,I start work 1st March thank goodness
The plane journey was long and horrendous but with a 4yr old what can you expect, just a case of making roots now and the locals are soooo friendly so I dont think we will have much of a problem

Hi Sky, we're also in Christchurch, we arrived here on 11th January but just got a PC so this is my first post since we've been here.
We, is myself, Darren, my wife Sadie and our son Ethan who is 2 years old.

Your profile says your from W. Yorks, Sadie is from Rotherham, so not too far.

I was straight into work when we got here (3 year Specific Work permit) whereas Sadie is itching to get out and about, she's looking for something that interests here.

So far, everything has been great, we saw 20 houses in 4 days and bought the first one that we'd seen, and moved in 2 weeks later. We didn't bring any furniture or anything from UK, we cashed everything up, so we've (I haven't really) been busy buying everything new. There are great deals to be had at "Noel Leeming" We went in there and bought NZD $10,000 of electrical stuff and they gave us a NZD$3,000 discount - AMAZING.
Everywhere we've gone we've got deals, just gotta play hardball. Furniture Expo over in Addington was great for beds and suites as well.

Ethan is at a great nursery in ChCh, The Rabbit Patch, really good for him, comes home tired and dirty everyday and is talking more and more.

Anyways, if you want any help or just to discuss whats what, feel free to post me, maybe even meet up.

Let me know and welcome to Christchurch..

Darren.

The schools are great although my kids dont like the school uniforms...especially my 11yr old who has to wear a big wide brimmed hat outdoors for the sun but I think they look fab.The pupils seem better behaved, more polite and wanting to learn. They seem more immature for their age than my kids which I think i a good thing.
