See - nobody knows. And anyone who has had any interaction with or experience of mental illness, post natal depression, or any other knows that it can be totally and completely eradicated and be a one week phase or a 15 year phase. And yes there are others who are so deeply psychotic that 30 years in a mental institution is all that can be done. Perhaps the govt should start a big building project somewhere in the outback put them all in there and forget it, oh yes.. it could be called bedlam. Its not our moral high ground, to see whats best in the interest of her kids, after all they are her kids. She however has some issues, be it they may be mental. Steve |

No they dont get another chance, yes give them help, but for gods sake, dont let the kids back in their care, you just cant take chances with these poor kids. Do they get a say. |

I dont think its a case, of pidgeon hole eveyone, with PND. I also think, other family comes into this, and responsibility should be borne with consenting guardians within the family circle, above social services. The fact in this case, is SHE chopped her sons leg off with a HUGE axe. Irrespective of her mental condition, her childs well being is most paramount. Steve |
Re: Axe Attack !
Please stop saying depression !!(not talking about post natal) - If she was suffering from clinical depression she would never have done this as she would not have been capable of it. Post natal I cant comment on.
If she was suffering from another form of mental illness I would be surprised that the powers that be a)hadnt picked up on it while on hospital visits when pregnant b) if she had previous history of mental illness that she wasnt more closely supervised. However maybe if there was a history there the "powers that be" may have hoped the child would be a cure for the mother  As some one mentioned what would everyone be screaming if it was the father of the child that had done this? |

[QUOTE=chattyshazza]There are some people I do wish dead, people like Ian Huntley.
But I cant wish this mother any harm, I dont wish the child to be put back into her care either and I am sure that wont ever happen. But I dont think she should rot in jail or anything of the sort, she was obviously suffering come kind of mental illness/stress, maybe Post Natal Depression or something much more serious upon which she probably didnt even think about what she was doing. QUOTE] People like you scare me. In one quote you wish someone dead and another you make excuses for someone who is as bad, you know, sombody who chopped her childs leg off with an axe! Why is that? Is it because shes a mother and mothers can do no wrong? There always an excuse isnt there? How do you know Huntley doesnt have an undiagnosed/unrecognised mental illness...even if he did I dont think that would change your opinion would it? |
Re: Axe Attack !
Guy I work with lives just across the road from her. It's a 4 bed house rented out to a religious group. He say's they have never had anything happen there before and the first he ever saw of them was when the police arrived yesterday.
A quiet group that kept themselves to themselves. pretty scary isn't it? Ljj |
