You will get away with right up until you have an accident and then the insurance company determines you were unlicensed at the time so no insurance :scared: WW |
Re: Automatic cars
If you are on TR you don't have to swap your licence over.

I'm about to start driving lessons but am thinking of just having automatic lessons and getting an automatic licence. I can't see the point in gears if you don't need them. Are automatic cars available in Australia and will I be able to drive them in Oz on an automatic UK Driving licence. I figure i'll definitely need a car in Oz as its so remote. One other thing, are automatci cars more expensive? A couple of points: 1. You may find yourself working for an employer who provides ONLY manual cars to staff. 2. Incase of an emergency and only a manual car being available, you will not be able to drive it. 3. If you travel, some countries might not accept an automatic driver's licence. I am sure if I turned up in NZ driving on one the cops would piss themselves laughing. 4. There has been talk of phasing this licence out. 5. This licence may not be valid in other parts of Australia 6. It is well worth doing the hard yards and learning in a manual, then progression to an automatic is relatively simple... doing it vice-versa is more complex cognitively from what people have told me. |
