Australian farmers get behind the Lads
My heart goes out to the Aussie farmers I now understand that Yanks are ridding Iraq of Sod-Them in order to take over the wheat trade .
Will the Aussie troops chuck out the Yanks in order to to regain a foot hold in the all important wheat War, that bugger Bush is a nasy piece of work killing loads of punters then tells the rest to buy Yank wheat never trust a Yankie.
Hope the Brits are not going to force the Arabs to buy Brit beef they are Mad enough already, and god knows what that would do to Aussie sheep exports?
FARMERS say they will sue the federal government if the valuable Iraqi market is lost after the war.
An alliance of South Australian and West Australian farmers has called on the government to protect their arrangements with Iraq, claiming future trade with post war Iraq is under threat.
The South Western alliance was concerned in the light of a US statement indicating the superpower would seek to control the wheat trade in Iraq after the war, WA Farmers Federation president Colin Nicholl said.
SA Farmers Federation president John Lush said the Iraqi wheat trade was worth $800 million a year, and about 9000 South Western alliance farmers supplied most of it.
Mr Nicholl said it was up to the Australian government to ensure future trade was not jeopardised.

Even the AWB has learnt a few trick from the ST's and PB's. Helps to have allies in high latitudes to soften up the unwilling.

Go real easy on the peanuts, would not want to drop a clanger when cutting a Deal with the Yanks, might get what you asked for.

The Yanks own most of Australia now so bargining power in their favour but I can crawl lower than little Johnny and brag less .
I think they lost his invite to the big meeting because Bush said "heard enough about how the Aussies are winning the War for one life time leave the prat out''.

Could not hear what you had to say over all the rolling thunder.
Did you say the STs & PBs will not allow the last Aussie wheat to land until after the STs wheat arrives in 3 weeks?
Good marketing ploy, should change the minds of the unwilling, sell their mothers to Stirlings by that time.

Your words are, I believe, prophetic, add French Fries (etc) to that.
(As I have intimated afore, I think Australia is much overbought by immigrants. The visa system is out of date. Putting people in limbo for a year or two is not good for either party. Not sure about the quotas but suspect they are too high and requirements too low. But this is off topic.)

The French should do well out of the Iraq invation , best to sit it out then business will not be hurt got to make a Franc or two.
Well off to happy hour more brain cells to kill makes living here easier , watch the big telly down the OB maybe the Aussies have cardboard cut outs on tonight to show how they are wining the War?

As far as I know, the Aussie fighterplanes are escorting Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft, which detect threats to the AusNavy, which is protecting commercial shipping directly and through mine clearance and therefore protecting humanitarian supplies about to be landed. The fighters have made a few strikes on the port and enemy mine laying facilities.
In all probability you will see NO video of ANY AusServices in Iraq during hostilities. The video you have seen of the AusSAS was probably made in Aus.
The AusSAS activities are probable restricted to securing the port of Umm Qasr and transport facilities in the region.
The AusServices are directed firstly to safe delivery of humanitarian aid to southern Iraq and only secondly to the protection of Aus commercial interests.
With the once in a century drought in Aus the last wheat harvest is only 40% of the previous harvest. Aus does not have too much wheat to chuck around and will be hard pressed to supply traditional customers.
Howard has the same intel as the US and UK, that it is too dangerous to assume that Iraq does not have WMD or is not associated with international terror. However, he is very constrained in what he send to Iraq by the "arch of instability" to the immediate north of Aus (Indonesia, Malaysia, S Philippines, Papua, Pacific Islands etc). Aus must keep most defense capability at home. He also must sell to the Aus public Aus support for the humanitarian effort in Iraq and earn enough respect from the US and UK for our treaties with them to have real meaning especially against international terror.
So keep looking for "cardboard cut outs" Aus warriors if you will but I believe you will look in vain.
Instead why not try watching if the Aussies are winning the peace in our region?

This is far to blunt for your good self nice to see you stick up for the want to bes , Australia has not a fighting force worth a mention its has only limited capabilities and numbers it expects the Yanks/Brits etc to defend it against bigger foes.
There are no Aussie Mine sweepers in the Gulf they are yet again playing a minor part , they have 3 ships one a troop carrier compared to a Yank Fleet and a a smaller Brit one .
14 planes among 1200 is not worth talking about unless you parade the ace pilots (Aussie TV bull) in front of camera for the people back home .
Your troops numbers could not hold a candle never mind a port thats being done by the Brits , your Media hates the fact that your involvement is over looked , crap like important work , leading what ever flows like they reporting a sporting event which you are in the lead.
As for wining the peace your place at the table will have a cardboard cut sitting in it Little Johnny will have no say , big mouth little to back it up , you are a nobody in the UN.
