SE Qld has just gone on water restrictions because of the extrememly low water levels in the dams, but its far from just SE Qld thats affected. If the drought continues prices of food like fruit & veg will continue to rise as supply gets shorter. Things like wool quality is affected, meaning that wool products rise in price. Similarly cotton crops fail, so prices rise. Things like sorghum grown for feedlot cattle rise in price which means less export beef which affects balance of payment & trade figures, affecting the economy. The list goes on & on.
Some people think that "drought" just means that you cant water the plants in your gaden, but it has an extremely negative knock-on effect to most of everyday life.

We've have stage 2 water retrictions since we got here so its the norm to us.
We have had to order water in (we are on tanks) but only twice this year. However what we have noticed is the dryness. It hasn'r rained properly since Feb the 15th and everywhere is totally parched. It also really hurts when you get brought down in footie

May had record rainfall here in Perth/WA.
But there's still below average rainfall predicted for the winter.(I think it's worse in the east and SA)
Dams are at about 20% now I think here in Perth.
Mrs Dagboy has summed it up well. It's mostly the indirect things that are affecting us(of which a lot of us(me, at least), are not very aware.)

Last night on the news, it showed a real quick report about snow in Brisbane. We had not seen it since. What happened? How rare is this?
