Went through Melbourne this morning at 6am coming back from the UK and it's the fastest I have ever gone through!

Only allowed 1 opened packet now.

Been trying to find some news on the effects of the strike today, ahead of our guest arriving tonight.

Melbourne, not much impact on ingoing and outgoing passengers.
Sydney, delays, delays, delays for all.
Perth - obviously no one knows where Perth is, because we didn't rate a mention. Even from local news sites. As usual

Sydney so unaccustomed to strikes these days they have no idea how to handle one.

Melbourne on the other hand has strikes on a weekly basis. They will have the system mastered

Strikes, Marches and Protests, people certainly voice their opinions there. Good unless you need to get anywhere

Arrived back in country thru Melbourne yesterday.
Very, very long queue for foreign visitors - I was SO embarrassed.
Straight thru Immigration using e-Gate(?)
Declared two items & was waived straight thru by a guy who was more interested in chatting with his colleague who had his hands in his pockets😏 doing nothing rather than inspect my grass broom & hat.
After spending two weeks in Asia where arriving/departing from airports is almost pleasurable, I truly do despair for this country at times😡

Much ado about nothing, in Perth anyway. UK visitor got through Immigration and Customs in 30 minutes.

Its like selling a house. It needs curb appeal and long queues at immigration don't give it that.

Our visitor is currently waiting for her flight but had no problem with check in and passport control in Brisbane. Aus is hardly the only country that has issues with immigration control sometimes. Why you'd be embarrassed by a long queue for foreigners is beyond me.

Nothing that I have experienced at Australian airports comes close to the horror that is LAX, Detroit international and JFK

Oh and that excuse for an airport, Manchester International as well

I'd like to add SF to that list as well.
