Default Australian Air Force

Hello to all!!
I am posting on here as it seems such a good place to post threads and we're hoping that someone on here maybe able to help and offer advice. My husband is wanting to transfer to the australian air force and we were looking for people who are or have done the same. We are just asking for general infromation as we are only just starting out. We are really serious about doing this and have been thinking about this for a while now. All help would be so appreciated. Thank you

Generally for the Australian Air Force you have to be an Australian Citizen or eligible for Australian Citizenship (ie: been a Perm Resident for the required amount of time) with the intention to take it out.

Now in saying that, there is a new thing on the Defence Force Website about people who are not Australian/don’t live here but want to transfer. I have no idea how it works or the process, but if you have a look at their website you should be able to find out more or contact them.

This is the website, http://www.raaf.gov.au/ and also http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/

Both are the official site’s.

Good Luck.

Mikey

We came out 7 months ago and my husband has transferred to the Royal Australian Navy. Not quite the same but any questions you have I will try and answer. So far it has been fantastic and we are loving it

Try the military ARSSE forums (www.arrse.co.uk) - they have quite a few RAF to RAAF threads.

And as you're Air Force rather than army as well as Arrse you should also look at the RAF equivalent, E-Goat http://www.e-goat.co.uk.

I have several ex RAF colleagues who are now in the RAAF and RNZAF. Most applied through open recruitment ads in the RAF News, others did it via word of mouth and 'friends' in the RAAF and RNZAF recommending them.
These were Nimrod AEOps though and were sought after then , not sure what it is like now.
