Nope, the South of France was first plan with me working one week in 4 in London and the rest living there permanently, but after reccy trip we decided it was a no no.

No. USA was our first choice back in 2001 but after 9/11 they made it more difficult to get into the country. Then we tried NZ cos thought Oz was too hard also, but we decided NZ was for retiring to..bit too quiet for us now. Glad we moved to Oz though. Only downfall is the distance to the UK to visit family, especially now we have kids, but skype is a great alternative.

We looked at San Francisco for years (and I still have a yearning to live there) but getting a visa is so difficult, himself would probably have had to do exams to work and I wouldn't particularly want to work in my field over there. Now however he's working for a global company the chance of a transfer is on the cards....might look at it again.

Having done time in Oz in my youth it was certainly not my first choice - always like to try something different. An economic boom and a skills shortage meant a company transfer. No complaints. All going well.
