Be specific about freedoms you have lost. thanks. Oh and the data retention legislation is based on European laws.

The woman said people live behind fortifications, ie big walls. If she meant psychological barriers that is something else entirely. But people DO NOT live behind fortifications in Australia.

Can imagine it being very boring. I drove from Calais to Frankfurt last year in less than 6 hours. Imagine 4 different countries in such a short time (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany). Ok, motorway can get boring too, but a lot of the journey was off the motorway.

Sydney N.S.W. to Perth W.A. is 42 hours (3,938.2 km) via National Highway A1
Australia is larger than USA(not inc Hawaii / Alaska)
Then England is around the same size as our 2nd smallest state Victoria.
I have ridden many many times syd - perth in just under 3 days.
A motorcycle ride for my daughter and I from Spain to Italy in an early start day should be no effort at all.

Here's some tips.
I drove from Aberdeen to London in a weekend. All motorway because I had to do it in a weekend. Very boring except for leaving the motorway and seeing the Lakes District. You see my point. You still need time. You want to not be on the motorway to get good value.
Same on the continent. If you are motorway driving its quick but boring as hell. All the good stuff is off the motorway which again is time and lots of it but great if you have it.
If you are living and working you can throw time out the window.
