Default Australia & New Zealand visa

Hi, Does anyone know if you can just get 1 (WHV) for Oz and New Zealand or do you need separate visa's for both? My Cousin is thinking about coming with me when I go to Australia but she would also like to go to New Zealand for a few months, What would be the best way to do this?

You will need to apply (and be accepted for) two WHVs. The only shared visas between them are the Australian PR visa, which automatically gives you NZ PR.

Thanks for your reply, I was hoping since Australia and New Zealand citizens could work in both countries that maybe only 1 visa could cover both,

They're different countries though. Different immigration rules and different visa requirements.

Rules for citizens are different from rules for non-citizens.

It seems like a bit of a waste to have the two visas concurrently. You only get them once each (although you can extend the Oz one if you work rural). Your cousin could go to NZ for a holiday at the end or get a NZ visa once finished in Oz. I'd strongly advise getting one visa at a time and seeing how you go. It's easy to get a NZ/Aus WHV visa as and when you need them.

No. NZ PRs have no rights in Australia at all.

Yes is isn't even reciprocal at citizenship level, while NZ citizens are allowed to work in Oz, their status is temporary (regardless of how long they choose to live there).

Aus doesn't want a back door visa. NZ wants people.

Makes sense I suppose. Surely NZ isn't so bad that it's having difficulty keeping people. Or is the attraction from there to Australia too great?

About 1000 Kiwis a week permanently emigrate. Most go to Australia. New Zealand is a high cost, low wage economy with very little opportunity for anyone with any ambition.

That's a lot. Does NZ suffer a net loss PA or are there sufficient new arrivals to replace them?
