Well we had it all planned, bit of a barby with friends on Sunday then off to a bigger one with live music, the whole works down at the boat club and what happens......bloody cyclone Dominic!!!!
It rained and thundered all day Sunday and then again on Monday,I've never seen such heavy rain and we did hear that it was only classed as light/moderate...I'd hate to see heavy!
It was rather fun driving through the enormous puddles and paddling in the 5 inches of water in the back yard but just such a shame that the big organised parties were cancelled. We don't have much in the way of entertainment up here in Karratha...we don't even have a cinema any more!!
Hope everyone elses celebrations went OK !!!

Enjoyed it. Very much like St. Patricks day... plenty of drinking. What i didnt get was how strict the bouncers were about 'space'. in ireland you'd be lucky to be able to breathe in a pub. But the bouncers yesterday seemed to want to restrict the numbers entering the pubs. Thats fair enough, makes it more comfortable for the people in the pub. But, in the Orient, they kept shoving us around. they told us to move, so we moved. They told us to move again, we moved. They kept telling us to move, even though we were exactly where they moved us to. they were trying to keep large parts of the floor clear in case a fleet of buses needed to pass through or something. they were just pathetic. So we left. Wont be going back, ever! They cost their employers a lot of money I'd imagine as the place was only half full. Surely they'd want to place to be hopping on Australia day?
Good day though, recovering today.

Fantastic day on Perth foreshore
#6
The Perth celebrations were good. It was Australia Day 1998 when I first arrived in Perth and as this was the 25th anniversary of the skyshow (no other connection really), we spent the day at South Perth foreshore and stayed the night at the Burswood. Glad the kids were with us, otherwise I amy have lost money at the casino, as is the norm for me.

Ooooo, green with envy right now!!!! Really hoping we can make the move down to Perth before the year is out.
Kids have already moved, one to boarding school and daughter starts at UWA in Feb.

We enjoyed the family atmosphere of Bunbury - though it seems the day where many 14-15 year olds first fancy trying a stomach pump procedure.
Here is a fancy view of Bunbury last night.
