Most reviews say it stinks.. here's one as an example..

Reviews from Oz are more positive, which is understandable.

A bit over the top to be honest. I thought it was going to teach me something but I knew everything that the film had already. There is 1 funny bit in it and thats at the start. Worth watching but definitely nowhere near as good as the hype. I was expecting more shots of beautful scenery (hence watched it in the cinema) but there was very little.

Going to pass on this one despite the rather gorgeous Hugh Jackman.

Apparently there is liberal use of the term "crikey" and in one scene Hugh Jackman is heard to say, "Shut your damper hole". Methinks the movie sounds like dingo droppings.

Hi well thats it watched. No I did not fall asleep, & yes I really enjoyed it. Did not feel it was too long. The story kept me interested. Hugh Jackman was easy on the eye, but by far the star was the young boy. Funny in parts too. Yeah I would recommend it, but ladies don't forget the tissues.

What is the point of the movie? Genuinely interested. Is it an informercial, documentary, comedy, light entertainment or what?

Inspirational epic drama, I think. However:

Audiences without a vast appetite for racial condescension, CGI cattle, and backlit smooches will sit through Australia with all the enthusiasm of the British convicts who were shipped to that continent against their will in the late 18th century.

I saw it, have to state it was only because the people I was having a night out with really wanted to see it . My problem was Nic Botox, just find her so annoying, fake, pathetic really you know like you go from red hair and freckles to skin as smooth and white as a babies bum and you havent had anything done

Anyway thats one boring movie, too long, and too much hype hasnt helped, maybe if they cut an hour out if it it might be tolerable, but even then the acting is really poor and Nic botox comes across as unconvincing in the role, I think Cate Blanchett would have been a much better choice if they had to make it.

Maybe they only wanted Aussie actors to play the leading roles..you know as the the saying goes..made, produced, owned and made in OZ lol (although botox Nic plays an English lady)
Might watch the film once it hits the DVD shops, then at least you can switch it off.

They should make a modern day spoof version with Jonah from Summer Heights High and Vicky Pollard from Little Britain.

I would pay to watch that.

Cate Blanchett is an Aussie though.
