Maybe that's it - that would certainly be the case with my brothers. I loved my childhood in England and had lots of fun in my 20s there. But never really felt any tie to the country - travelling was my passion and familiarity my tedium. I think it will be a long time before I find tedium in my life here.

You should come for a beer in The Basin sometime :thumbup:

Stop trying to think of it as home, and think of it as an adventure instead. Take time to stop and take a look at the good stuff. When all you find is the bad stuff it's because you are comparing it to what you had, and not looking at what you have. It can't/doesn't have to be perfect all the time, that's not real life.

If you are really unhappy, and can't settle then that's fine, there is nothing wrong with that. But don't let it make you bitter about Australia like a lot of people, it's just a country - only you have power over the things that happen to you in your life. If you don't like something then you need to face it head on and do whatever you can to make it right for you.

DISCLAIMER: This is intended for SIB and not anyone else who is unhappy in Australia - unless you feel it applies that is - and is purely my opinion (and probably a load of rubbish :D)

Hard not to start blaming the country though when you get unhappy. Every little thing starts to annoy you. I think there are two types of people who emigrate. The ones who want an adventure and the one who've had enough of the UK. I think the adventurous type are more successful imo.

I'm lucky, I fall into both categories :D (well not the whole of the UK, just the bit I come from). But it was more that I wanted to live in Australia than I wanted to leave the UK - otherwise I would have just moves somewhere else in the UK.
