Austrailian dirty windows.

Austrailian dirty windows.
Hi Everyone,
A bit of a silly question here but we've just moved into a new house yesterday. The house originally had net curtains up and when we took them down this morning we noticed that the windows were very dirty. We really want to clean them but - this may sound daft - we don't know how to. The window that opens has a mesh screen in front of it, when closed, so we can't get to it to clean it and when we open it it just slides behind another pain of glass . Is it possible to clean windows like these without having the mesh screen removed?

Re: Austrailian dirty windows.
We do not clean the windows due to water restrictions now. Maybe just dust them off.

Re: Austrailian dirty windows.
The 'inner' window should lift out, it took me 6 months to figure it out, now I wish I hadn't bothered as my OH now knows
Living in an elevated house also meant investing in a very long squeegee ($60 from Bunnings)

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply
I've looked at the windows and can't see how they can be removed but I'll try to figure it out.

Re: Austrailian dirty windows.
If you partially open the sliding window, grip either side towards the bottom & lift up you should be able to swing the bottom runner towards you out of its channel.

Re: Austrailian dirty windows.
From the outside, slightly push up the fly screen. It will lift away from the bottom slightly, enough for you to pull it out. Some are trickier than others (snuggly fitted) but persevere.

Re: Austrailian dirty windows.
Thanks for your advise. Just after I made my last post I had a look again at it and found that it worked exactly as you said so I have nice clean windows now

Re: Austrailian dirty windows.
At one point I did look at whether or not I could do what you suggested but as well as being fly-screens they are actually security screens so they're not made that easy to come off.
