Arrow Aussie Housing Market Snapshot

This is a handy snapshot of charts showing the current state of the Aussie housing market, for anyone thinking of buying or renting here...

Is this another housing bubble thread?

Interesting to see though when you look at century housing data, that actual house prices always double in value over time.

Houses in aus are way, way overpriced. The average aussie house (in Brisbane) costs ofer 8 times the average wage.

This is one bubble that had to burst.

ABS only report on freestanding houses.

The others report on houses and units separately.

APM does also report on both so I'm not sure why the Aus Property Forum admin excluded APM units, maybe not enough room on the chart?

The chart is displayed permanently below the APF forum and gets updated quite regularly.

I wish you were right but you are not right about the overprice. If those old folk are willing to move their super out of funds and into property then the price is what it is. Just attend an auction and watch the old folks go at it....... and then the entry of the random chinese dude right at the death

You are absolutely right, Brisbane property is way overpriced. We did OK out of it but I would hate to be a first time buyer now.

but rents are high. if interest rates stay this low, it might be a better long term option to buy. property prices always increase (you just don't know how long it will take) so your mortgage is being eaten away by inflation whilst your home value increases. if you set up your mortgage affairs properly you can even invest in properties so you can retire with passive income with a debt being eaten away by inflation.

A lot of overseas Chinese money is going into new builds, especially inner city apartments. And no few newly built property it is not necessary to have PR or be a citizen.
