We opened an online account with ANZ, very helpful. You can put money into account but can't withdraw until you get to oz to 'activate' the account.

Hi Lisa,

We are with Westpac (no problems so far) downloaded forms on line and posted them to Aus, just over a week later got a phone call, email and postal confirmation. Made an appointment to validate the accounts on arrival and transfered money across before we left! We also had online access so we could see our money arriving safe and sound.
Plus we have paid no charges because we keep the current account above $2500.

Hope that helps

Go to bankwest and check out there high interest accounts-6.6% When we invested our lump sum.

We went in to see them and explained our needs, they were brilliant, went through all our options and we ended up opening 4 accounts with them. We have transfered most of our money directly to them through Ozforex and will transfer some more when the rate goes back up to 2.5+

Whatever you do, don't use ANZ - they are shite!!. I've had nothing but trouble with them since we have been here.....from the day we went in to validate the account....not recommended, we are going with one of the credit unions, free and loads of additional goodies.
