Default asking for medical notes on departure!

Hi, i have requested my medical notes at my surgery and have been advised i thave to pay so much for each piece of paper they copy. I don't know why but i assumed they would present me with my notes to take with me and pass on to my new Dr. The surgery here do not need them any more after all!
i have been advised a summary can be made at a charge of £10 each which isn't too bad. Just wondered if everyone has found this to be the case?
Thnx

The notes belong tomthe NHS Trust, you can have a copy of them, but they are entitled to charge you for it.
You don't actually need to bring them with you though - the Aussies don't have the same system and you don't register with an individual doctor, and there is no central system for keeping notes. If you take them with you, you will almost certainly just be keeping them yourself.

If the information they hold is all in soft copy - i.e. computer records or scanned images then they should not charge you more than £10. If the information is held on paper records then they can charge you up to a maximum of £50.

Info here

Only worth bringing if you have a specific medical condition and you can't remember dates, medications, other treatments, results etc. If you're 'normal' I really wouldn't bother. Oh and some schools and most kindys want to see proof of immunisations for children.

£20 not bad, i have an existing medical condition but nothing to cause concern and i have my letter from specialist at hospital that i used for medicals so i may not bother getting more notes. I am glad you mentioned about childhood immunisation proof as i wouldn't have thought about that!
what about dental records?

I just got the doctors to print me out a list of the kids immunizations. My son has a medical condition and I just brought all my NHS letters that the hospital had sent me as it was full of information regarding treatment, and medication dosages, etc. When we registered at a doctors here in Australia apart from my NHS letters no other information was required as you fill out a medical history form.

Again don't bother unless major work has been done. The dentist here will look in the mouth and know what's been done and what hasn't
