I know lots of brits who are very happy here (and aussies) so must be who you hang out with. By hills I mean Stirling/Bridgewater/ Crafers area. Also Cherry Gardens, Ironbank, Clarendon. There's lots of lovely areas. Lou xx Cherry Gardens is a little further out (I have friends there) but it's gob-smackingly gorgeous. :) |

Have a look at the fax section on http://s2.invisionfree.com/Adelaidebrits/ Yes its a bit chilly at night, but then it is winter and 14degrees during the day isn't bad at all, and on the plus side, we havent had any sleet or snow:D best advice, as already said is come and have a look round, get a feel for the place before you decide. i don't think there is anywhere left in the world to bring up children safely...... at this moment in time you will have to pay for private schools as the schools in Adelaide are very hit and miss...(mostly miss)... sorry i am on a bit of a downer today...i also know a lot of people who have arrived from uk recently and they don't seem too happy with their lot...do you really want to come here? it's freezing tonight 5c and the houses here don't have proper heating or double glazing you will be cold.......there's also high rates of child abuse in australia and not a good system to do anything about it.......:( |

we have relis in elizabeth and they say the area isnt as good as it was 20 years ago ... but compared to where we live at the moment it isnt really that bad at all :D (we live on a crappy council estate in sheffield!)
also got relis in greenwith (just over from golden grove if my memory serves me right??) and we found greenwith and the surrounding areas were lovely, but the housing was packed very densely together ... yet the houses were very, very different in design! lastly, relis in klemzig ... they love it - nice area, yet close to main roads for commuting and about 10ish minutes from adelaide. we recently stayed at west beach (just up from glenelg) and for us it was heaven - if we werent going to qld we would def wanna go back there! |

Does anybody know a place called Woodcroft? We are renting a house there for 2 weeks at end of August when we arrive. Going to use it as a base to explore Adelaide as never been there before. We're then going 'mobile' and travelling around for a couple of months (need to visit rellys in north Qld too) while choosing where to settle! Feels incredibly weird - have resigned good jobs in UK, sold house and coming to Australia with no house/job and two children aged 8 and 5!! Although am sure many have done the same! Just hope we get settled/sorted!! |

But we have settled in Greenwith and love it, feel like we are not that far away from anything but further enough out to feel like we are in the country (sort of) but like you say how long will that last!! :( |

If we decide to go to Adelaide I want to stay in Flagstaff Hill. We lived in Happy Valley for a few months when we visited Australia which also nice or there is Aberfoyle Park. These suburbs are at the foot of the hills. Flagstaff Hill is not too far from the city approx 30 minutes and approx 20 minutes to the beach. It would all depend on my OH getting work. If he could only get a job in the northern suburbs it would be too much of a commute. I've no idea about riding schools though. :)

Not far from some lovely beaches and a great base to explore the Flerieu Peninsula. I live in the next suburb of Onkaparinga Hills. |
