Williem,

City and Guilds finally sent certs after 2months of waiting and charged us £60 for them. References have also been a hold up, all my mistake as I thought we both needed positiove assessments to lodge our application. I'm a silly girl, ah well.

My mum found my certificates in her loft just after i'd asked for new ones.
Luckily I cancelled just in time and wasn't charged anything.
Good luck with your application.
Where you thinking of heading in Aus?

Hi

I have been collecting information for Andrew's TRA Assessment because I thought we both needed to be assessed. I'm going to be the main applicant with Andrew as my defacto spouse. I have all my things ready for my NOOSR assessment but was told by an agent today that only I need a positive assessment as the main applicant. Does anyone know whether this is true? Any help would be apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sarah

Hi Teach and Nikkigriff,

I strongly advise you both to get an agent. They tell you exactly what immigration need. Most agents have worked for immigration in the past, so they may be a bit pricey but worth it in the long run.
My sister is now a resident of Australia but it took a very stressful 3 years to get there. Both her and her husband where both very very highly qualified!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!She strongly advised us to get an agent back in January, when we decided to apply.
I haven't got a C&G in Mechanics so with the help of my agent and 4 months hard work,I passed the TRA.It took 6 weeks to come back, but well worth it.
We have now lodged our application and now will have to wait, but the hard work is over.
I hope this is some help to you both.Agents are well worth the money!!!!!Less stressful maybe??????????????

Regards Tricky

Re: Confused also about skills assessments!

That's right Nikki - if you are applying for a Skilled - Family Sponsored visa the person who has the relative is the main applicant, even if the spouse or partner is the one with the skills assessment.

Best regards.

Hi, this is my first attempt to use site - just signed up. So brilliant to finally find others who are trying to escape to Oz. I am at the moment getting stuff together for NOOSR (teacher for my sins). My husband is 45 so I am thought I would be main applicant, but been told (not by an agent - trying not to use one), that because we are going to be sponsored by his brother and sister in law, he has to fill form in. Very confused!

Not sure whether I'm even doing this flaming message right. Please answer with any reply if I have.

By the way if you are getting any of this, we are trying to go to Perth.

Sarah,

As already mentioned, if you are looking at a move to SA or VIC consider applying with your partner as main applicant with a State Nomination, as this can significantly speed up the processing of your visa application.

I really cannot believe that we have wasted sorry should I say I have wasted 2 months trying to get his TRA sorted because I read a question wrong.

hi everyone... im actually confused... i am the main applicant, and im bringing my defacto spouse with me... we are to be sponsored by my uncle in Victoria... our visa would be skilled-designated area sponsored.. and i have understand that it doesnt have to through a point test... my spouse just got a positive skill assessment... so we're thinking if i could no longer have my skills assessed... would it be ok, even if im the primary applicant... and oh, im just curious... how much does it cost to have a migration agent, coz we feel we need it... thanks!!!!

Wow techno, where did you find this one, lol. My understanding which can often be limited is that if you are being sponsored by your uncle and you are the main applicant then it is you that has to have a positive skills assessment. I am quite happy to be corrected on this matter if I am wrong.

Also migration agents vary in cost. Ours has done main application for us with quite a few problems along the way and has charged us £1,395. To us she has been worth her weight in gold.
Hope this helps
