Default Anyone taken their iPhone 4 to Aus?

Hi

Has anyone taken their iPhone 4 to Australia, from the UK and had it operating without an issues. Mine is an unlocked one and I am confident that it will be fine in Australia. I'd like any feedback from anyone who has migrated and used their iPhone 4 in the land down under.

Thanks in anticipation.

It's not an issue if unlocked.

I can't imagine it not working.

Won't be a problem. Most of the main Oz providers settings will work with the iPhone. Your UK providers internet settings may not necessarily work with the Oz partner service.

it will be fine. Be aware that the Aussie app store has different apps to the UK one. Keep your UK app id and create a new Aussie one that way you have access to both stores

Thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for the heads up johnnye, I will do that!

denzil73, thanks for your feedback, I'll be using the iPhone 4 permanently in Aus, so I would not be using the services of a UK provider anymore.

I will be giving my iPhone 4 to my lucky wife, when I buy the iPhone 5, whenever that may be. Circa winter/summer 2012.

Yeah, that's the main consideration.
If the phone was bought directly from Apple then it will be SIM unlocked and you can easily swap to the Australian Teleco of your choice.
If the phone is on contract it will be SIM locked to the UK network, and will need unlocking by your UK mobile provider before you leave.

This was the main reason I bought my iPhone 4 direct from Apple.

i am doing the opposite next week. I am on contract wiht telstra, i called them and said i was going overseas and wanted to use an alternative carrier and they unlocked it for free.

then you have to go to itunes and RESTORE - they told me sync but you do have to fully restore and it unlocks.

i am guessing its easy to buy pay as you go sims for the iphone in the uk? Anyone recommend an online retailer so I can order one that will be waiting for me at my home there?
