Re: anyone scared!!!!!
You won't go wrong wit Pickfords.
We used them and they were brilliant. Not one thing scratched, damaged or broken. We even found a pint glass in a box not wrapped in perfect condition. Jo |

Hi Louise
Congratulations on the house sale, you have to keep thinking positive, hard I know, but if the house sale is needed for you to go, then you are on the way to crossing a massive worry of your list. Yesterday we accepted an offer on our house, we now are waiting for our visa to come through. We are going to Sydney on a 457 we have a daughter she is 5. I always said that one would come first the house sale or the visa, either way you will always be worried and waiting for the other if you know what i mean, you get the visa but not sold the house or you sell the house but not got the visa, but hay at least you have got one thing on the way thats a great step forward. Just try to keep busy, try not to sit and wait for it and it will come when you least expect it. keep going and good luck kelnian |

now that things are actually moving, i am feeling physically sick, i am worrying about us getting jobs (how easy is it - even if you dont take the trade you have applied for?????). we will be left with about 30k once all the debts are cleared. WILL THIS BE ENOUGH!!! I am getting cold feet not because i dont want to go its just all the uncertainty. is anyone experiencing those same feelings. just feel like crying at the moment. perhaps some of it is pmt though. any responses would be greatly appreciated. louise I think being nervous and scared probably reflects that you have your eyes wide open and that you are looking at the situation in a realistic light. Also a positive is that this will prepare you better for the experience than someone who is blinkered. |

We arrived in Oz with less money than you will have, and have been careless/frivolous with money as if it were a big holiday. We now both work, get on with our lives and have a routine much like in the UK except we are happier here, and make more effort to do more than we did before. I'll be honest with you, Aus ain't for everyone but if you have a positive outlook and want to make it happen then you will have a good start and 30K will go a long way, if you're sensible :) |
Re: anyone scared!!!!!
Hiya
The house is going up for sale tommorow, the investment bond is being sent next week, so we should get our visas any time in the next couple of months. The first point when it really hit me was going through my wardrobe and decluttering the house over the weekend. I sat on the bed with a big pile of clothes next to me and all of a sudden it dawned and I thought what the FXXK am I doing?!! I'm basically upheaving my entire family to go to the other side of the world, with no job, no home..... Still, I keep focussing on one thing. Surely to go and then realise it was the wrong thing to do is far better than never trying and spending the rest of my life thinking what if I had gone? Remember, its not a decision for life because you don't know whats ahead of you in years to come x |

Re: anyone scared!!!!!
Wow - it was like reading my own feelings! We are only in the middle of our Visa application process - got TRA (he's a plumber), going for medicals next week. However he will not put our flat on the market until he has confirmation that visa is ours. He is a little worried as he is diabetic.
I am a person who has a tendancy to overplan things and he is more of a type to just pack a sports bag and give it a go! So between us manage to balance each other out a little. I wish you all the best - smooth paths - and the new life I know we are all looking for. |

WE'RE ABSOLUTELY CACKING IT!! Things got real serious real quick and our visa app was acknowledged today (well 4th May actually but I'm not going into THAT one again ;) ) All of a sudden, and for the first time since starting the whole process I've been asking myself.. WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING? However, I remedy any fears by going to www.realestate.com and looking at the kind of houses, with pools, close to the beach, that I will be able to BUY OUTRIGHT when I get there. Then I go to www.bom.gov.au/ and check out the weather :D As an electrician I realise that I may not pursue my chosen career in Oz, although I'd like to, because of the hassle and expense that will entail. Still I'll worry about that on the beach with a tinnie or three :D Andy |
