I just want to know if it's only me that has had problems with them.
Won't bore you with the details but suffice to say I now make myself extremely comfortable before phoning them because I know that it'll be at least an hour before I get through :curse:

I would never go with optus again. We signed up with them cos they sent us a letter saying they could connect us within 48hours -- 6 weeks later we still had no phone and no Internet access...... Pretty difficult situation when you've just arrived somewhere....

Now, I've had totally the opposite from them. Never had a problem and I am on a pretty good deal with them. Phone bill is capped at $29 a month and BB is $39 a month for 2GB. (as opposed to $75 amonth and $29 dial-up for 30mb)
It's like everywhere, you get good staff and you get bad staff. If you get onto a good member of stafff (which I have every time I've called them) then you'll be fine, if you don't then ask to speak to their supervisor or manager, that usually gets results

Hi there, they are crap, they said that they had upgraded to ADSL+2 but it never happened, so i went to iinet which are great +2 connection and any problems you get you straight through to a rep. With Optus it took me more than 2 hours to cancel my account. SO DON"T GO WITH OPTUS THEY ARE SH>>>>T.

Snap :curse:
That was the same for us.
Plus when we eventually got connected and I phoned about the terrible interference on the line they kept making me think the fault was in the house. When the situation got so bad that the line was unusable they sent someone out and he phoned that the cable out on the road was damaged. !

It's not the staff per se that I'm complaining about but the fact that every single time I phone them I have to wait at least half an hour before I manage to speak to one of their staff.
Plus if you don't get put through to the right department (by the automated system , which had trouble with my accent), you have to start all over again and wait at least another half an hour.
My record is 90 minutes waiting, so far.

yep, optus are great as long as you dont have any problems or faults on your line, and if dor any reason you have to phone them, you will be guarenteed to wait at least an hour to be answered, and its usually a call centre in India that answers!

Had the same, on the rare occasions that I had to call. Am now moving as they are putting up our phone rental to $55 (from $34) a month inclusive of all local calls - if you make that many local calls suppose its might be OK, and BB up by $2 ($12 stand alone) Got a much better deal from Netspace and a faster connection, heard good reports from other who use them, so fingers crossed.

Anyway, I still haven't plucked up enough resolve to do it and we've just bought a house so I'm going to have to tell them we're moving as well !!
Perhaps I can get them to drop their cancellation fees ?
