hi everybody just wonderd if anybody new or old to this area would like to meet up we arrived new years day (2008)wow! and looking to meet people to meet up with and share their experience with.

Im feeling like im in the 1960,s at the mo! but loving every minuet of it .

Hi everyone, we are due to arrive in Brisbane on the 6th March! got a furnished let in Raby Bay for 1st 2mths (curtesy of OH company).
I'm a Brummie, OH Wolverhampton....not so posh . We have 3kids 16,13&9, so not as young as you guys, but mentally....never know!
Need all the friends we can get, so would love to meet up sometime when we are over the jetlag, or even b4!

Hi there wolfman we ,linda and i( no kids )live opposite side of the road to Raby Bay in the dog end !Really nice man made area is the bay but depending which part (as it's quite a long POSH road will determine how near the amenities are to you (possibly 5mins ,top whack about 25mins away If it's possible to help anymore just give me a shout .No problemo !! ps you could do a lot worse that pick cleveland it possibly has everything you could want IMO

Glad to here more poms coming to cleveland. We live in ormiston next surburb to cleveland/raby bay. We have only been here 12 months we have 2 kids 7 and 12. The older one found it harder but just started high school so seems to be settling in.

Give us a shout if you want to meet up there are some nice places in cleveland. its about 50 mins on the train to the city

thanks for the welcome, I hope we have made the right choice its difficult from research to really know until you get there. (never visited ) The move wasn;t planned until oh accepted job begining of Dec. sent his CV ''just to see'', as we are fast approaching the scrap heap in Oz terms
just felt that living by the Bay might be cooler, and we have read good things about the area. we have totally open minds though to be honest and are not going to rush in making any decisions....done that too often and regretted
ChrisnKerry, what schools do your kids go to? I have spoken to Cleveland High and Faith Lutheran so far. I hear Omiston college is good, but we are ruling out private at the moment as having 3 makes it too expensive. Haven't really researched primary yet as the other 2 are at more crucial ages. My eldest is old enough to go into yr 12, but has been advised to redo yr 11 for 7mths left and then yr12. He seems happy to go with the flow.
We have also looked at Kenmore and that side of the city as it would be a shorter commute for work.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

my son who is 7 and in year 2 goes to ormiston state school. my daughter goes to cavendish road state high which is in holland park. we are on the train line for this so it only takes about 40 mins and most children commute by train. Cavendish road has centre of excellence programs for a lot of sports my daughter is on the netball program. If she hadn't gone there my next choice maybe would have been cleveland high. let me know if i can help you with anything else. i have only lived in ormiston since december i was in north brisbane before that but my family have lived in cleveland for 25 yrs
