Re: Anyone in maroochy?

Try to be a bit more positive Vikk please

I have no friends, no family, no job, or a house of my own here but I have never been happier. I wake up with a really nice feeling in my stomach every morning like you used to get as a kid waking up on christmas morning. I keep thinking 'Oh my God I live here!' I keep giggling to myself. Just get yourselves over here!! Its hard work starting out again but so so so worth it. I cant imagine living anywhere more beautiful. Where exactly on the Sunshine Coast are you thinking of, or are you still undecided? Good luck x let me know how it goes. Vikk

Ange, How much more positive could I possibly be? I'm so happy I'm on the point of sheer lunacy!!!!!! :D :D :D You know that, i've told you often. Giggling to yourself is not a sign of negativity and although I have lots of fab friends in other areas like you lot down in Brisbane I don't have, and can't expect to have any friends here yet. I have only just arrived, and friendships take time. That doesn't mean Im being negative. Its the truth. I knew what I was getting in to and how hard it would be and it is hard sometimes, but I'm loving every minute of it!

Your agent was right!!! Not that I'm biased at all but I love it to bits. I'm not too sure how to expain living here, Its got fantastic shops amazing beaches and a billion trendy cafe bars, pubs, restaurants & clubs. The people are so friendly you go out for a loaf of bread & get back 2 hours later because you end up having a chat with everyone you meet along the way. Its really laid back and there is quite a chilled atmosphere here. It may not be for you as everyoneis different but I was only here 5 mins & I just knew I wanted to live here. It was that instant. In saying that I have not got work yet either I will start looking tomorrrow, but I think as long as you are willing to accept that to begin with you may have to accept anything to get a few pennies Ooops - cents coming in and be willing to work bloody hard on regaining a footing in your chosen career then it shouldn't be too bad. I really dont know though. I suppose time will tell. What do you do? The hospitality trade is brimming with jobs here but you need certificates in everything to get a job even for cleaning and bar work, but I think you just need to be determined.

Hi there
We came to Oz a year ago with a view to settling in Melbourne. Went on a bit of a road trip - 3 months later still driving trying to find 'the perfect place'. Drove through a small place called Buderim which is in Maroochy and took one look at eachother and knew we had found it. Maroochy is the size of an English borough I suppose with lots of little towns in it. We bought a block of land (not big) and panicked a bit as had not found jobs. Ended up taking me 2 days to get a job and my partner a week! We had heard there was no work etc. There's lots of work, there's just many Aussies who'd rather go surfing. I drive past the South Pac ocean everyday (on my Vespa!!! - something I would NEVER have had at home) and still pinch myself one year on. It's not THAT quiet here. Things close a little early if you're used to living in England but you get used to it.
Work wise - you'll get a job quickly if you just want some easy cash. I went from a specialist sales job selling to architects in London (construction industry). I now sell posh bathroom stuff in a large showroom. I was worried as my job in Uk was quite specialised. All depends on what you do now and what you're prepared to do. Don;t worry though

i've checked out hospitals and there are no services for kids at the local hospitals if i'm right. am i right in thinking that you are about an hour odr so drive from brisbane? i do hope so, because i would probably have to work at the mater.

anyway, soooooo glad you're happy, ypu've certainly made an impression on me.
