Anyone had a Boundary Survey

Anyone had a Boundary Survey
Our solicitor has suggested that we have a Boundary Survey on the property that we are buying on the Sunshine Coast.
Anyone one know how much this is likely to cost?

No, we are talking about the physical location of all boundaries, as we don't know if the fences (were there are fences) are to prevent animals getting out or are the actual boundaries.

It may be the same, our plot is 10 acres so boundaries are not clear.

For Search of Dept of Natural Resources and Mines, Brisbane City Council and Service Authority Records, field survey to locate and level features calculations drafting and issue of electronic drawing $1,100 + GST with Norris Clarke & O'Brien Pty Ltd Quay st. Brisbane.
This was on a plot of about 685m2 on a very steep gradient. We had to have this done prior to pool and extension work due to previous issues with boundaries. The neighbour wasn't contesting but we needed to make sure we comply with all the very complicated boundary and fencing rules for the new work. So we had to re-establish the correct boundaries as the previous owners of our house and their previous neighbours had moved things around a bit.
The survey took place in February 2006.
Hope this helps, but suggest you phone round to get quite a few quotes first as I'm sure we could have got this done a bit cheaper if we weren't so constrained with time.

You've just made me feel a bit better (see my previous post above). Ours was relatively complicated too, but I always assumed we were being overcharged. $1200 doesn't seem so bad compared with your $1716! I can sleep at nights now.....

Re: Anyone had a Boundary Survey
Have you been and paid your $10 bucks at the dept of mines and natural ?resources for a copy of the RP on your block?
We were told we needed the same but paid the cash to the guys above, this enabled us to locate the original pins for our block. There had been a few burn offs over the years but the old hardwood pegs were still there, we simply borrowed a few of the white sticks with the red tops from work and knocked them into the ground next to the old pegs. This was sufficient for the local shire council & the house builder.
Failing that idea the company we work for insists on a survey for every acreage block, the surveyors are from down your way and come up to Gympie for approx $500 bucks. I'll get a phone contact for you on Thursday when I see the engineer.
Good Luck

Not having the site surveyed may cost you money in the future.

Re: Anyone had a Boundary Survey
If you put the address into this site Gill it should also give you a good idea of what your boundary should be as works on the plot boundary.
http://gis.qld.gov.au/iqed/map/ go to satellite imagery once you have it down to near street level.

Re: Anyone had a Boundary Survey
We have the copy of the survey done in 1988 showing the boundary and where the pegs should be but don't know if they are there or not as we haven't seen any sign of them. If we can't find them we need a surveyor to re validate the boundaries.
