Anyone had any quotes for a 20 foot container?
Just wondered if anyone had had any quotes for shipping a 20 foot container from the UK to Melbourne?

Thanks Mary.
Our first quote was approx £4300 for a whole 20 foot container. I guess that is in line with £2400 for half a container.
Any others or comparison?

Lunar shipping in London will do a 20 foot container for £1600.00 however you will have to load yourself and insure it yourself but the container is door to door.

£3800 for 20' Dorree Bonner with 4 weeks free UK storage - that was good few months ago now though, am hoping with less houses selling and knockon effect that they'll do more of a deal when we go back to them??!

We were about that with John Mason's too ... never used anyone else but I'd recommend them. We had a fully wrapped service UK end, un wrapped ourselves this end. Only one breakage and that bowl was chipped anyway so probably weak .. only complaint was that everything was discribed as an ornament so customs checked loads more than they needed ... no feathers/fur etc on books/pictures/etc!

We've got two removal firms coming next week so I'll tell you their quotes when they've been (20ft to brisbane from north west) but John Mason have been and quoted £3685.

Just wondering whether these quotes include from door to door or port to port?

Our first quote as mentioned above was door to door (within 100 miles of Melbourne), including all packing and unpacking.

despite waiting for a decision on the visa
we have had the international removers round to give us some quotes and this is what we have. The service is from Stoke on Trent to Robina (Queensland) door to door, all wrapping+unwrapping etc Doesn't include marine insurance. It is for sole use of a 20ft container.
Crown £3800 including aqis fees
Dorree Bonner £3800 not including aqis fees
Anglo Pacific £4200 not including aqis fees
Eardleys of Crewe £3200 with no aqis fees
As we are still waiting for a visa I haven't booked any of them yet and also haven't negiotated a better price.
Our gut instinct though is to go with Eardleys as they are a smaller company who seem to care, and the guy Keith is really approachable and sounds really 'normal', but hey we still have no visa........ so......
Hope this helps

Its if Australia choose to check your container. I haven't looked to it in depth but if customs want to inspect your container you have to pay something like $400, Crown just choose to include this in the price!! So I guess that if customs don't want to check the container then Crown make more profit!!
