Hi Maxpaxx

Hopefully we will be going to Perth in the first couple of weeks in September. Saying that we haven't got my husband's visa yet - but we are hoping that there will be no problems and come September we will be Perth bound.

We are in a bit better position then you as I originally come from Perth and so have friends and my sister out there. However the prospect of leaving a life that I have grown used to and going back to Perth (this time with son and husband in tow) is rather daunting.

Why are you going over in September and not earlier?

We are open to ideas on that front! definately thinking coastal at this point. We have just been reading an interesting article on 'Golden Bay' and the undervalued property in that area. It's been predicted to boom with the possibility of a rail network so thats interesting. We have booked a house in Subaciao for the first 3 weeks so thats pretty central.

What about you guys?

Well we had always had that date in our minds and to be honest didn't think that a) we would sell the house so quickly and b) the visa would come so soon.

Ed sells medical equipment and has some good deals coming in over the next few months. We don't want to touch the money from our property or shares and have been saving so that we have all the money for airfares, shipping, new car, etc etc and don't have to dip into that. We reckon that by Sept we will pretty much be sorted on that front - so it's mainly financial. We have always had a rule about the money from the house only ever being for another house!

Anyway theres a lot to sort isn't there? Also we have rented a house and we could only get a 6 month lease so it works out quite well.

When are you going?

Max

Hi Max,

Although we are still in the hands of the DIMIA we are hoping to be in Perth roughly by that time. Our 50 weeks ends in July and we have front loaded police and meds so all we are doing now is waiting......

We are closely watching the timelines as it looks like July applications are getting closer, although we are Aussie Sponsored and we hear rumours that sometimes this can delay things...hope not !!

Anyway, if we are going at that time or ealier keep in touch as we would love to meet up with fellow posters when we eventually get there.

Good luck with yours

Best wishes

Warren & Jill

we are arriving after xmas, so a bit late for you.

We would love to get together with expats when we get there so if anything is arranged you can count us in. We are in a similar position - we have no family in Perth.

cheers

I'm going to send off my CV to a few hospitals. See what comes back. If all else fails, will take a regular nurse job until something suitable comes up.
I'm F grade at the mo. What grade are you?

I'm the equivalent of a F grade. I am a nurse (still reg with the NMC) working for a Global insurance company, so my job is office based now.

I am hoping for a office based job again when I get to perth, but if all else fails I'm going to go on the WA goverment run 'refresher' course ( I have been off the wards for 5 yrs), which is 4wks long, but I have to commit to medicare for a yr then. Bit of a bummer really.

Can't even apply for that till I have my PR visa though.

I have worked in some of the hospitals in Perth before, and I would suggest if you get the chose, go for the private sector, much nicer. I worked in the mount hospital (private) in central Perth, right by King's park, and it was lovely.

Keep in touch, nice to know someone else is at the same stage as me.

Bit nervous as I am going alone (with my dog!).
