I am just touching base with you regarding your visa application. Unfortunately we have not received any update on your visa application which I am sure is more than frustrating for you all. We monitor this situation behind the scenes on a weekly basis however we are prevented from chasing the Department of Immigration until such time as your application is outside of the timeframes stated by Immigration.

In accordance with current reports from Adelaide they are currently acknowledging visa applications received on 27/8/2007 (For pre 1st September applications) – some two days before your application was received. What this means is that we cannot chase them for an acknowledgement until they state they have acknowledged applications received on your date and beyond. It is also worth noting that an acknowledgement is only the allocation of a File Reference Number – it does not mean that a Case Officer has been given the file. At present the official records state that applications lodged on 2nd April 2007 are currently being allocated to Case Officers. However we have had visas granted for applicants who lodged since April 2007 including some visa applications have been granted for our clients who lodged in August 2007 – I appreciate this is a totally unfair system and regretfully I cannot offer a logical explanation for the workings of the Processing Centre in Adelaide.

One benefit of us being Australian Registered Migration Agents is that we can now (once your application is outside of official timeframes) lodge a special request for an update on your application and this will be done without notice to you.

I would also like to add that we monitor all applications on a weekly basis and if we could be doing anything to speed up the process then we would certainly be doing so.

I look forward to sending an email or calling you with some good news in the not too distant future.

Hi Lynn

This isnt to bad in a way at least you know that they are and can chase it up.
It is true that it is very unfair the way the whole system works and I feel for those that applied before Sept.

Hopefully though you will get some good news soon. Mark and Gillian havent had ack yet either which is bound to be annoying for them.

Arent you using Byron Pugh as well???

Enjoy reading your book and I will prob catch you on tomorrow.

you would think that once DIAC had taken your money that they would send you ack.

Would you try calling your agent through the week to see what is happening your application. You are paper based arent you???? Any idea what date they are up to for the paper based?

You are bound to get some answers from your agent after this length of time.

Nadine,

Yeah......just e-mailed agent. Will give him a few days to find out for me.

I think , as Lynn confirmed, that they are processing 27th august 07.

Agent sent us another bill at end of November 07 asking for an extra $150 due to DIAC fees and he crap exchange rate at the time - worse now

I definately think that august was a bad time to apply

With all the impending changes taking place , and with the abnormal amount of applications in August, 30 odd thousand I believe, we are goin no-where fast

Welcome on board the Norhtern Ireland thread. Its great on here and everyone is in the same boat.

Thats great news about sponsorship and its true what camacazi says as they are crying out for Nurses in Australia.

We are heading to Perth hopefully in May we are on a skilled independant visa and are on the last stages of the process so hope to hear something soon.

We are taking all our furniture with us as its not that old and I love my funiture. We are prob using Pickfords to transport out stuff.

Thats good that they will do all the work for you although you will prob still need to get references form employers etc. I dont know alot about sponsorship as its not the route we are taking but we are all SOOOOO nice on here so ask anything im not saying we will be able to answer ha ha

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Nurses are in demand in Oz.

With a sponsorship I think your application will be processed fairly quickly - some advertise to be in oz in 12 weeks -

One thing to consider with a sponsor is that because they shell out initially for the cost of migraion etc... you will usually be tied to them for 2 years......so basically you MUST stay with them for 2 years before you can look for other work in oz.

This is fine if you end up loving the place you go to and love the work.......not so good if you end up hating the new job or even the state/area you go to but are stuck there for 2 years.

I belive you can pay back costs and leave the job within 2 years BUT you will then need to find anoher sponsor within 6 weeks or the visa will be cancelled and you will be on your way back to sunny portadown

As a Nurse, and if you're under 45, then you are eligible for a skilled independant visa which basically gives you the choice of who you work for and where you wan to settle so it is totally flexible.

If you have been to oz and know where your job is going to be based and are happy with that area hen a sponsored visa may suit and get you to oz very quickly.........if you have'nt been before or no sure on which part of oz you want to go maybe pay yourself for a skilled independant visa.........but this will take a long time to get - probably around 18 months

Also check out the Nurses section on BE :

I hope this is of some use to you

Hi Denise
Is work doing your head in already and its only 10.40

Denise we had a chat with Pickfords at the expo again and everything is ok with them it didnt affect the company that much it just basically changed over hands.

Everything is still ok with them and they were actually the cheapest we had three companies out and Pickfords was the cheapest. We are not worried , we were at the beginnig when all the news came about them but No things are fine with them.

No No word from CO at all although a grl Natalie on Oct thread who applied 25th got her Visa today so you can imagine how grumpy I am this morning as we applied 16th. Of course im over the moon for everyone that gets their visa but at the same time I wish it was me.

I will be constantly checking my mail as I am off work til Wed
