Hi
All I can reccomend is that you try allhomes.com.au
This lets you see all the propeties for sale or rent in Canberra ( well, most of them) and lets you look at suburbs etc
When it comes to suburbs, they are all fine so dont worry about that.
Hope that helps a bit..

Hi Samjam,

Absolutely any info will be greatly received.
What's great about Canberra?
What's not so great?
What are the areas like?
We have 2 children 5 and 3 1/2 is there a lot to do?
How far to the beaches? (seen it's inland just wondered how far)
Shopping facilties?
Housing?
It's not somewhere we considered until now due to job offer

So many questions!!!!

Thanks

Hi

You are right - Canberra is hardly ever mentioned on here.

We are hopefully moving to ACT towards the end of the year (496 visa - medicals being done next week). We are moving there because our family/sponsors live there but it is a great place to live. We have just come back from a 4 week holiday there and spent a lot of the time in the nature reserves - especially Tidbinbilla and Namadgi (looking for snakes!). We did go to the coast (Narooma) which is about a 3 hour drive but Batemans Bay is only 2 hours away.

Canberra is very spacious and has great views and a fantastic lake (Burley Griffin) for swimming and picnics etc. It is nothing like Sydney and hard to believe it is the capital of Australia.

We are really looking forward to moving there - we will be looking at renting in the Tuggeranong area which is in the south of ACT. Unfortunately house prices have risen quite a lot since we were last there in 2003 so not sure if we will ever afford our dream of a home with some land attached but nevertheless we are confident our quality of life and our sons future will be improved.

Best of luck

Helen

Yeh it's not a place thats overly mentioned, just trying to build up a picture of the place from info from the internet, books and descriptions from others. It all helps!

Thanks
