Hi,
We've got friends who intended to migrate to NZ with 3 children, the eldest is on the autistic scale- ADHD, the next in line has rheumatoid arthritis (controlled). They decided against NZ as the schooling for their eldest is apparently more or less non existent. Basically they are wondering about Australia.....both have occupations on the MODL anyone any comments????

There are a few who have migrated with children suffering these problems. Try a search - can't think of any names at the mo. Not sure about the arthritis though but def adhd etc.

thanks for replying......searching whilst posting and found a lot on ADHD and adult arthritis, not juvenile though (which can be a temporary thing) just wondered......I'm fairly confident they'd be ok.

Phil, madsad's son has ADHD, you might want to send them a PM & see what they say. I know of 2 other people who have emigrated with ADHD kids (both to Adelaide I think), sadly neither of them post on here anymore.

Sorry can't help with the arthritis question though.

Phil, rheumatoid is very different to juvenile... I would have said, more disabling. Which is it?

My youngest daughter has autism and I came back to Australia with her. If you want to "liaise" about it, feel free to PM me.

You don't really have much to worry about, to be honest.

I'd say so. It's considered to be part of the autism spectrum.

Sorry posted in a hurry! Juvenile I think, the specialist said he would anticipate it being temporary given the severity she presented with a couple of years ago and the pattern since then. Though there are no certainties.....read a couple of posts from adults with RA and they are in so who knows!!

Our daughter has autism and although can't speak from experience of being there I have been trailing through the schools in Brisbane that have SEU dealing in ASD and Sensory difficulties. There seems to be quite a few mainstreams that integrate so I'm hoping they'll be a bit more sympathetic to her needs. Can't comment on any other areas though.
