We have just sent off our first payment for our pool to be built, waiting for council concent at the moment but does seem to be cheaper this time of year as they are quieter and want the work, cant wait until its done! Pete

We bought a spa in January, not used it much so hubby emptied it last weekend. It is lovely & warm, but getting out of the spa & freezing till you've dried yourself off is horrible! i hate the cold
Spa cost 71/2grand,had to get ground levelled at back of garden &extend electricity supply, bought a pergola to go over the top of it,gives it a cosier feel! plus the fly net curtains keep the mossies out!!wired lighting into the pergola & rock wall.
All in cost us just over 101/2grand.

Here you go not a brill photo, just realised it is prob the only one we have!!
We bought our spa second hand people previously only had it for 6 months and were moving so we did get ourselves a bargin!! We love it, didnt have to make anything or level any ground as we had a perfect place already, put up a few little twinkly lights and there is nothing nicer being in there 38 degrees at night with the stars twinkling!! Highly recommend!!
Have no idea how previous poster does 40 degrees that is just toooo hot for us!!!
Also not to sure how much it would be used in the summer, we have a pool as well so think the spa will prob get emptied and just be used in the winter months, but will come back to you on that one!!
I keep seeing on the tv is these Spa Pools, they look brilliant , not that big, but twice the size of a normal spa, and you can swim in them to as there is a really strong current, no idea the price but they do look really good, if I was considering a pool/spa I would take a look!!
But in my opinion Spa versus Pool, if you have kids Pool wins hands down if you dont Spa wins hands down!!

Looks gorgeous
Have you got soap in there as it looks really bubbly
Spa pools (swim spas) cost around $20,000 + Nearly as expensive as a pool
Must admit though, they do look nice

I have seen places where you can actually go and soak in the spa to see if it's right for you

Did consider both, however, have delayed both due to the water situation:
have heard of $2,000 - $3,000 quotes just to fill your pool!
depending on usage spas have to be emptied/re-filled every 2 - 3 months, at roughly 1000l at a time!
Also how high will electric cost go???

beware the cheap spas. The Australian brands seem to have poor insulation so what you save on the purchase price you will prob spend on heating it.
To be honest i don't think they are cheaper over winter, it's just marketing !

we're in the midst of having a pool built. I don't think it was any cheaper being winter but we don't have any delays waiting for any tradies. During the summer I hear it can be a nightmare as all the guys who work on pools are so busy eg yesterday we had a bit of a cave in and bobcat guy was here within half an hour - not sure that would have happened in summer.
Also, the concrete won't need to be hosed - can't think why !!
