Default Anybody else completely lacking motivation at work??

We're waiting for our visa to come through (hopefully).

Completely, and I mean completely lacking motivation at work - can't concentrate, can't be bothered doing anything, spend too much time checking BE/looking at where to live/booking trips (I kid you not) - just want to go NOW!!!!!

The wait is killing me.... Anybody else in the same boat???

Yet, again I completely agree with you. We have our visa and since we gained it I have had absolutely no motivation or drive at all. We have planned for Melbourne in April 2007 but I think it will be sooner than that...I pretty much know the bus to get to work by now. lol

I've got my visa & am living & working in Australia. I'm completely lacking motivation at work. I really cannot be arsed anymore. I've been doing the same shit for too long. I do what I need to do, make my money & go home.
I really need to jack it in & do something else.

Hey Graham,
Same thing happened to me. And believe me, it does not get any better WHEN you actually get the visa (because then you will have the big move in mind).

I'm sitting at work right now and I'll move to brisbane in exactly 3 weeks (where I managed to even get a job before arrival). I force myself to do my work but you can forget about motivation or any other sort of positive attitude .

What helped me is to read all sorts of infos on australia and life there (such as this and other forums, books, videos on google video or youtube.com etc.).

Cheers and don't worry, it'll happen ,
Emil

Absolutely!

Have got the visa and even had it validated but can't sell bloody property in the UK! Have decided we are moving in January regardless as I start a TAFE college course in Feb, so I know I only have 64 working days until I hand my notice in so really lacking motivation. But as no-one at work is even aware I am going I have to try and appear focused, especially as it's appraisal time soon and I would like a good bonus in December just before I tell them I'm going

Hi Emil,

Once we get the visa we'll book tickets straight away and go! House sale is going through, removal people are lined up, just need the visa

Nic wants to fly on the 28th October. Don't ask me why - but that's the date apparently!!! I just nod and smile (and try desperately to get through another day at work LOL )

Soooooooo agree with you re lack of motivation - I have shit loads more better things to do than to worry about my company not even bothering to get of their arses and try to find my replacement, begging me not to move aint working!! They have had two and a half months notice and I am struggling to get into the office for the final three weeks!!

Doesnt help that OH has finished his employment and he is at home ready for viewers / relate to estate agents etc. He hates organising things - I want to do it!! Mind you he is a great housekeeper!!

Finding much more interesting things online to occupy myself as we are taking a month out in Thailand before we land in Perth for our new life (hoping for November - fingers crossed, touch formica etc).

Fantasy packing lists arent doing it for me anymore - I am barely polite to work colleagues (dont want a leaving pressie anyway!), started informing clients and suppliers I am leaving and that has caused a little drama!!

A breakdown of individual duties (idiot guide) was compiled over six weeks ago - just let me gooooooo!!!!! Ppplllleeeaaaaseeee!!!

sod it - I would only drive myself nuts at home too!

Good luck with the wait! Fingers crossed for a speedy jump across the globe for you and yours.

LOL

I handed my notice in a couple of months ago too. Boss took it quite well and thought it better to do that so I could go at relatively short notice at the end rather than dump it all on him 4 weeks before we go.

Thailand for a month sounds fantastic. One of my favourite places in the whole world. November will be a good time of year to go too. We were thinking about spending some time in SE Asia again on the way to Oz but think we might just want to 'get there' if you know what I mean. Might stop off for a few days somewhere though...

This is the sort of thing you think about endlessly and plan whilst sitting infront of a desk at work completely unmotivated isn't it LOL

Too right!! Our London Office has finaly shifted our main server onto theirs so they are now spying on individual internet use! Do I give a Sh!!! Not I dont -what they gonna do? sack me? Mind you really annoying as I have lost access to a lot of sites with surf control denying me access (b******ds).

We are doing the Thailand thing to destress and buy entirely new wardrobes to match our new warmer climate - would like to enrol into diving lessons too, just to check out potential new hobby etc. We are lucky that a friend of OH has said we can crash land at their house until we get our feet on the ground - OH is trying to stop me from over-planning the whole thing and treat it more like an adventure - you can tell he has never migrated before - this is my fourth time!!! (UK to Norway, Norway to Sweden and back again then Norway to UK).

Hope you have a good couple of days on your stop-over! See you on the other side!!

We've had our visas for a year now and we won't be there till about July 07!
Can't really level my lack of enthusiasm for work at the visas though. My lack of interest mainly stems from being a lazy bum.
I can't be bothered to work FULL STOP.
