Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any of the currency transfer companies for tranferring around £30,000 or is it just a question of checking out the best rates?

Check the rates at the time and also the cost of the transfer - we found ozforex to be the best on both counts.

I have used ozforex regularly in the last year, and found them always gave the best rate. Other companies are HIFX, currency online, moneycorp. If you are not sure, you can open account with all these companies (they are free) and than compare.
some companies gave a "higher" rate in the front page, but when you actually went into the site to do the transaction, the actual rate is usually poor compare to Ozforex.

We've used Ozforex a bunch of times now. They have always been easy to deal with and very helpful. The rates were excellent too. Would definitely use them again and recommend to anyone.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Actually, the money won't buy us anything. It's the second VAC on a Temporary Contributory Parent Visa.

Been using OzForex for over 3 years now. Good rates that you definitely won't get from High street banks, and quick transfers.

We used the banks twice when we first moved to Australia.
It always took a week (Ozforex took a max of two days) and the banks had a horrible exchange rate compared to Ozforex. I would never, ever, use the bank again. That's just me though

Can also recommend oz forex/ uk forex. I work in a bank and even the staff foreign exchange rates can't compete with them. They are fast at transferring too. No fees for amounts over 3000 gbp either.
