Just wanted to see if there are any people going to/already in Australia who are in managerial/office positions.
Hubby is a Technical Consultant and is being tranferred from Kent, UK to Perth, WA.
Have read alot on here from people who have trades but hardly anything from office-bods! Would love to know how people working in office professions are finding working in Australia.

I work in an office at a hospital. Well, not really an office, more a desk stuck in an alcove in a very busy corridor with a pink carpet covered 1/2 wall dividing my desk from the very busy corridor. Anyway, I like my job. I work with some really great people. I get to boss around a bunch of junior doctors (which I like) and make my own hours (which I also like). We go out for regular social type things and while the pay sucks it's otherwise all good.

I work in an office. Nice, air conditioned, 23rd floor. I have my own office within the office too but they are moving me next week into the main floor. At least I will have a window desk then though, my little office hasn't got a window, it's more of a cupboard really. It will be nice to sit with more people I think, although it is a very friendly place to work anyway, everyone chats to everyone.

Case of same sh*te different bucket I'm afraid! An office is an office no matter where it is, same office politics, same fights over who stole what from the fridge. The main thing I found different is that people here tend to run off home more after work, far less of the "lets go for a drink" culture, but thats just my experience.
Not a techie type though, so can't help in that field at all.

Very much agree with above. In the area i'm in working for a NGO , Management rather poor and creative initiative stifled somewhat by excessive control.
Quite a lot of staff and management changes occur on a regular basis owing to dissatisfaction.
That in itself creates tension with the bringing in of folk with little experience in the area.
Little to no social interaction after work as folk are stressed and often have a way to drive to get home,or just private and just want to get away.
