Re: Any Irish ex Pats/soon to be ex pats?
I saw this thread and just thought I'd say hello. We're from Mayo, husband is a Chippie, and we are in the final stages of preparing our TRA. We're hoping to move to Melbourne (or possibly Perth we are not 100% decided!).
Hello Macker by the way!

Hi,
Have a hot whiskey for the cold - lemon, few cloves!! I swear by it.
Good luck with everything - hope you both have a positive result in a few weeks!!

Hi there,
Just to get back into using this forum, so all who have left Ireland & landed safely in Oz, it looks like your taking to it well.
I'm still waiting on DIMIA to make that call for medicals & PCC's. Six months waiting now & it's a little frustrating but if it's worth it I'll be happy with a positive result in the end.
Those that have made it, how long was the wait for you guys..
Cheers

Hello Everyone
Andrew 63 directed me to this page and on reading ALL your posts, you sound like a friendly bunch! We live in Newtownards, Northern Ireland but hopefully not for too much longer. We are hoping to relocate to Brisbane/Gold Coast next year some time. We are using Liz at Australian visa specialists (met her at the expo in Dublin), but just starting the process.
We are:- Myself, husband and 2 girls - aged 11 & 4 (ok, next tuesday she'll be 4!). Husband is a chef so is on the MODL list, we are applying for a 136 visa. I am a civil servant
I'm sure we'll need loads of advice in the coming months, so i'll speak soon.
Have to run now to take my daughter to youth club - it never stops..........
Cheers! Lynn

How are you?
Welcome Lynn to the Irish bunch!! We are using Liz O' Hagan too at www.australianvisaspecialists.com. We are 136 MODL also, oh is a carpenter. Fairly well on in the process right now - visa application was received in July and hoping to be called for our medicals in the next couple of months. Dying to head off now to be honest. Have you checked out www.irishozforum.com ? Lots of irish there who are in the process of moving. May get some helpful tips there too. You have hooked up with a good man there - Andrew 63. He was a such a big help to me at the start of my application and his wife. Lovely people. Hi Andrew

My hubby is Northern Irish, my grandparents Southern Irish. Brendan (OH) has lived in Scotland for a long time, and really misses Ireland. For a long time we've debated moving back there or emigrating to Oz, so we're heading to Adelaide. Main reason is that since the Euro, Ireland had become a very expensive place to live.

Well we are finally popping the visa application in the post today. Took ages to get everything sorted for it (god damn certified copies of everything). Anyway how long does the process take once the visa is submitted (136 skilled, skilled assessment passed).
