It's a wild Turkey. Have to avoid them around here on my bike. They fly too!

Brush/Bush Turkey. Bloody things I used to like them until they started getting in the chicken coop and eating the eggs

Seen it a few times in the street but today in the garden.

'Apparently' they're protected and you can get a hefty fine if you nab or kill one.

I think it would come under the 'kill' heading unless you're planning to eat it alive. They also have very little edible flesh, very very tough and not very much of it. Apparently.

So, 'theoretically' they need to be cooked for a very very long time in some kind of sauce, and, hypothetically, you'd need, lets assume, four of these to feed an average person?

Theoretically I would possibly concur but in no way would I give any sort of guarantee.

And, theoretically, they would either need to be caught under the cover of darkness, or made to look as if they were just being transported to a more suitable environment

If you've got one in your garden do your utmost to get it out before it starts building a nest - it will tear your garden to bits gathering building material, and if you destroy the first one it will just start over again.

Well not actually a turkey, that's what they were called because early settlers thought they looked a little like turkeys.

Got two that wander round my garden - they actually live next door. Martin is bold as brass and if there are no leftovers out for them he will peck the back door till I chuck out some crusts. Gwendoline is a bit shyer, she just picks up the food and legs it!!
