Default any help with state uni funding?

My son and daughter are eligible for scholarships and state funding here in the U S because of their high marks in school. I know that they will lose them when we move. I am wondering if anyone knows of similar programs in aussie schools.
thanks, calle

Scolarships now very rare birds, not like US, have to be very, very lucky nowadays to get one or now the right people.

Probably too political at the moment in Oz for Uni funding. We have a scheme here that allows students to pay off uni fees over a period of time after they have completed their courses from wages earned (HECS, Higher Education Contribution Scheme, I think its called). It can apparently take years to pay off. Now the Federal Govt has allowed unis to increase fees by 25% and take preference to FULL FEE PAYING students, ie rich overseas students who pay $$$$ up front.

Very strong feelings about only the rich being able to "eventually" get higher education led to student protests in capital cities and the storming of the Chancellors Office in Sydney or Melbourne today.

Thank you so much for the info. Even tho its a little upsetting. Just makes me worry more if we are doing the right thing. I cant imagine staying here any longer though. Oz is such a nice dream. Ive read so many threads here about crime, drugs, racism and all in England and Oz. You wouldnt believe how bad it can be here in the U S. Just going to have to do our best I suppose. thanks again. calle

Didn't mean to give you such a fright, but it is very topical at the moment. You could probably look at various uni sitesand make your own mind up. An alternative is TAFE (Technical and Further Education) Colleges are still considered as good as uni by employers.

Cheers.
